How to Pool your thoughts
Here is a quick overview of the process for generating your own unique content in Tidepools
STAGE 1: Capture your thoughts and inspiration
At this point in development, Tidepools works off text-based inputs only.
Capture your inspiration in the form of text from any source and feed it into your Pool. Examples could be:
copying the text from a website or block post
copying text from a document
using your favorite transcription service to record voice dictation
using a meeting transcription
Paste the text into a NEW POOL. You can also directly write your thoughts into your Pool. Each unique entry is captured as its own IDEA which you can refer back to later.
So a Pool is consists of one or many Ideas. In practice this is useful when you are looking to combine multiple sources of inspiration into your new work.
Once you've collected all your ideas into your POOL you should progress to the next STAGE of your creative path
STAGE 2: Refine your Ideas
Every time you add a new Idea to Tidepools, our app sets to work.
What our app is looking to do at this stage is to clean up the roughness of your idea and break it into its most meaningful pieces.
When ready Tidepools, presents back to you the key elements of your creation.
This allows you to:
identify and remove notions that you don't want to have in the final product
identify incomplete thoughts or where there might be gaps in what you have captured to date
identify areas of miscommunication
By hearing your idea expressed back to you, you get a better sense for how good it is and if more work might be necessary before progressing to the next stage.
Now that your all of the component parts of your new creation are present - you can now use Tidepools in a number of ways:
You can publish the Pool and give your readers direct access to consume in whatever way they like.
You can use Tidepools to generate a draft piece of text based that you can use and refine to create a static work - e.g. a blog post etc.
Direct access to the pool is an entirely new way to interact with a creator's content. We at Tidepools believe that this is an extremely powerful way for readers to consume and learn in a way that they feel in control of and can adapt to their own pace.
Static content like blog posts, essays etc. is not going away any time soon. Sometimes its best for a creator to control the communication to the reader.
Ultimately it is up to you to decide how you want to present your new creation to the world.
STAGE 3: Present and publish your creation
Once you have published that is not the end. A Tidepool is a living breathing work.
You will be able to review how your readers are interacting with your Pool and use that information to continue to grow your idea, address open questions and fill gaps.
Eventually those interactions may give rise to another completely new piece of work, encouraging you to create even more new and original ideas.
